This brief highlights the results of a Rapid Gender Assessment (RGA) conducted in November 2021 following a rebel attack on Congolese forces in the areas of Chanzu, Kabonero, Gisiza and Kinyagurubwe in Rutshuru territory on 8th November 2021, forcing over 10,000 Congolese asylum seekers to cross over into Uganda in Kisoro district. Kisoro District has an estimated population size of 326,224 individuals (180,554 female, 146,224 males) and is comprised of 17 sub-counties, including Nyakabande sub-county, which hosts the refugee Transit Center that was designed to accommodate up to 1,500 individuals.
