Final Evaluation of the Women Economic Empowerment through Climate Smart Agriculture Project in Kenya
This report the final evaluation of the four-year Women Economic Empowerment through Climate Smart Agriculture (WEE-CSA) project, was funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and implemented by UN Women in partnership with FAO across Kitui, Laikipia and West Pokot counties in Kenya.
The evaluation aimed to assess the project's achievements and impact, understand its implementation pathway and draw lessons for future programming. Specifically, it sought to collect endline data for key indicators and assess changes through econometric methods, including difference-in-difference (DiD) analysis.
The data that was collected involved 517 randomly sampled respondents (492 matched with baseline) using structured questionnaires via KoboCollect. Qualitative insights were drawn from 16 key informant interviews and seven focus group discussions, alongside secondary document reviews.
A mixed-methods approach was used, combining quantitative and qualitative techniques. Quantitative analysis included means, proportions and significance testing to assess changes between beneficiary and comparison groups and between baseline (2020) and endline (2024) data, with statistical confidence levels at 90 per cent, 95 per cent, and 99 per cent.
