Impact Assessment of Time and Energy Saving Equipment and Technologies (TESET) Provided to Households’ and Women’s Cooperatives in Rwanda for the Implementation of the 3R Programme
This end-term impact assessment evaluates the outcomes of the UN Women supported 3R Project aimed at improving the lives of rural women in Rwanda through the distribution of time- and energy-saving technologies namely water tanks, improved cooking stoves with related key accessories, and refurbished Early Childhood Development (ECD) canters. The assessment also considered how the project’s work on engaging men through sensitization and awareness meetings, might have changed their participation in care work. The project started in 2023 covering 8 selected districts in the country.
The primary goal of the project was to reduce the burden of unpaid care and domestic work borne disproportionately by women, thereby enhancing their productivity, well-being, and socio-economic empowerment. By addressing time-consuming tasks such as water collection, firewood gathering, and childcare, the project sought to create enabling conditions for women to participate more actively in income-generating activities and community life.
