Following CSW70, UN Women West and Central Africa launched a Friendraising initiative to call on its allies to turn collective momentum into concrete action. At a time when the rights of women and girls are facing growing pushback, the region can rely on a powerful asset: a coalition of committed actors — from civil society, the media, academia and the private sector — able to advance shared advocacy, strengthen synergies and support Member States’ priorities.
Developed collectively during the 4 June 2026 Friendraising event, this brief highlights key areas for mobilization to advance CSW70 commitments: access to justice, countering regressive narratives, leveraging knowledge and evidence, and strengthening collective advocacy. It also outlines ways to sustain the momentum generated by the Friendraising initiative and foster more structured, influential and lasting partnerships for women and girls across the region.
