Le bureau d’ONU Femmes au Burundi et le Forum National des Femmes ont signé le jeudi 16 juillet 2020, un accord de partenariat visant à renforcer la participation politique des femmes aux prochaines échéances politiques. Prévu pour une durée de 5 mois, le projet cible essentiellement une plus grande participation de femmes candidates collinaires pour ainsi atteindre au moins 20% de femmes candidates.

The chief guests for the event were Amb Sahle-Work Zewde, UN Under Secretary General and Director General of the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON) and Dr. Manu Chandaria, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Comcraft.

After Kenya’s recent national elections on 4 March, an unprecedented 87 of the 416 seats in the National Assembly and Senate will be held by women. As a new Constitutional requirement to ensure one-third representation, another 52 women will be nominated by 2015.
