Bangui, 4 May 2026 – UN Women and its partners have launched a six-day training in Bangui aimed at improving the collection and use of data on the situation of women and girls in the Central African Republic.

Organized in partnership with the Ministry for the Promotion of Gender, the National Observatory for Parity (ONP), the Organization of Central African Women (OFCA) and ICASEES, the initiative brings together participants from Bangui, Obo, Zemio and Rafaï.

The training aims to help local organizations better document the realities faced by women and girls, particularly in crisis-affected areas, in order to support authorities and humanitarian actors in making more informed and appropriate decisions.

Opening the training, Ms. Rachelle Djangone-Mian, UN Women Representative in the Central African Republic, stressed that data are not just numbers. According to her, they help provide a clearer understanding of the challenges women face and support the development of more effective and inclusive responses.

Participants are learning how to safely collect information, analyze it and use it to amplify the needs and concerns of their communities. Practical exercises and simulation sessions are also part of the training.

Ms. Clarisse Yakota, Chief of Staff at the Ministry for the Promotion of Gender, welcomed the collaboration with UN Women and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to relying on reliable information to strengthen policies supporting women.

At the end of the training, participating organizations will have access to shared tools and methods to improve the quality of data collected in the field.

Through the CRAF’D project, UN Women and its partners aim to strengthen local capacities and ensure that the realities experienced by women and girls are better reflected in decision-making and development programmes.
