Beijing+30 Review
Background
In 2025, the global community will mark the thirtieth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995). Progress in implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action is reviewed by the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) every five years. To date, there have been four reviews - 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2020 - with each review resulting in an outcome document that reinforces global commitment to the empowerment of women and girls and outlines priority actions for the coming five years.
The sixty-ninth session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 10 to 21 March 2025. The main focus of the sixty-ninth session will be on the review and appraisal of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcomes of the 23rd special session of the General Assembly. The review will include an assessment of current challenges that affect the implementation of the BPfA and the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women and its contribution towards the full realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Equal is greater: Time to act for gender equality and women’s empowerment and rights
Equal is greater. Equal adds up. When actions deliver for women and girls, everyone benefits. The world has a plan to achieve gender equality and the rights and empowerment of women and girls. That plan is the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA). As the BPfA turns 30, UN Women launches efforts to mobilize action and investment to achieve gender equality, rights, and empowerment of all women and girls. Through six priority areas of action, and by putting youth at the centre of these efforts, equal is achievable.
Find out in this brochure how everyone can take action to achieve an equal world where all voices are heard, all rights are respected, and all people enjoy equal opportunity.
