UN Women Representative in Malawi
Letty Chiwara has extensive leadership, representational and administrative experience, both in the public service and the UN system. Prior to her reassignment to Malawi, she was the UN Women Representative to Ethiopia, AUC and ECA.She has been working with U Women since its inception. Letty has represented UN Women in several Inter-governmental fora including at the Africa Union, SADC, IGAD and ECOWAS. Previously, Ms. Letty Chiwara led various UN Programmes in Africa, Asia and the Pacific Region, Latin America and the Caribbean and East and Central Europe. She has also served in various capacities in Government including as Senior Town Planning Officer in the Ministry of Local Government in Zimbabwe. Ms. Letty Chiwara was recognized among the 100 Most Influential Women in 2020 by Avance Media and also as Most Distinguished Change Makers in Africa (2020-2021) by Humanitarian Awards Global.
