CSW65 Virtual Side Event: Enhancing Women’s Political Participation in Africa: Old Barriers, New Frontiers

As part of the 65th session of CSW, International IDEA is convening a side event entitled Women’s Political Participation in Africa: Old Barriers, New Frontiers. This event will mark the launch of the Women's Political Participation (WPP) Africa Barometer by Her Excellency Former President of Malawi Joyce Banda, one of only two female presidents to be elected in Africa, on behalf of the SIDA-International IDEA WPP Africa Consortium.

The event will provide a platform to discuss the key findings of the Africa Barometer on the progress and gaps in women’s political participation at all levels of governance in Africa and to share experiences of women in politics, including young women.
