Thirty years ago, in 1995, 189 countries made a historic commitment to advance gender equality, rights and the empowerment of all women and girls by adopting the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BDPfA). This action-oriented blueprint outlines 12 critical areas of focus for achieving these goals. While notable progress has been made, the journey toward true gender equality, particularly for adolescent girls, remains incomplete.
As the BDPfA approaches its 30th anniversary in 2025, everyone is encouraged to take action for an equal world where all voices are heard, rights are respected, and opportunities are shared.
