As part of the 65th session of CSW, the African Women Leaders Network (AWLN) is convening a side event to highlight the work of its national chapters across Africa on 24 March 2021.

Jointly organized by the Democratic Republic of Congo, as pioneer AWLN National Chapter and current Chair of the African Union, UN Women, the African Union Commission and the Federal Republic of Germany, as co-chair of AWLN Group of Friends, the event will be an opportunity to: Take stock of ongoing efforts by national chapters to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic at the national and local level; Share experiences on their efforts to advance women’s participation and leadership in decision-making across the AWLN pillars; Mobilize action and resources to support the work of AWLN and the national chapters; and facilitate AWLN national chapters’ involvement into the Generation Equality Action Coalitions and the Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Global Compact.
