Coordination and Partnerships

When different agencies of the UN System join forces, they can achieve enhanced outcomes and optimize the use of limited resources. In Tanzania and around the world, UN Women leads efforts to bring together the UN System to promote gender equality and empower women. This includes ensuring that gender equality is central to UN Tanzania's programming under the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF 2022-2027).
In Tanzania, the UN Gender Equality and Human Rights Coordination Mechanism (GE&HRCM) provides a platform for gender focal points from UN entities to convene and collaborate on joint actions that advance gender equality. Through the GE&HRCM and in close collaboration with the Resident Coordinator’s office, we offer technical advice to UN agencies on increasing their investments to achieve gender equality and women's empowerment. This includes training UN staff to enhance their capacity to mainstream gender perspectives in their work.
To advance gender analysis and mainstreaming, we leverage tools such as the Country Gender Equality Profile to ensure gender data informs the UN's strategic planning processes.
